Blog 2-Greek Driving....

This deserves a blog all of its own!! Yes, I know we have a new law in the Uk regarding tailgating, but the Police here could make a fortune because these guys really know how to do it properly. Yes, I know you are supposed to pull over as far as possible to let them past, but more often than not there is either a) a ditch for you to drive into, b) a massive bottomless gorge for you to drive into or c) a goat you could drive into... The possibilities are endless for having an accident. No one seems to wear seat belts or helmets on motorbikes except the tourists, who mainly drive extremely cautiously up winding single track mountain roads, further infuriating the locals I suspect.
Parking - park where you will (or better still just stop...).
Admittedly we are not in cities or even big towns, the West really seems like the Wild West in parts but it is never dull. Especially love the signposts

These are few and far between ending up with you driving into some places you really wouldn't want to go and where turning around is not an option! However, the signposts, yes they love to shoot 'em, almost every single one has bullet holes in it, in some cases totally obliterating their message..

We are fast learning to drive like a Greek; as in on the wrong side of the road so you can see around the next corner and flat out where possible otherwise you never get out of second gear. Black pickups, driven by bushy-bearded Cretans, are popular here and alarmingly loom into your mirror without you seeing them coming-scary.

Enough on the driving-it is fun and we manage to get s e very remote places...
