Crossed into Germany and the Southern Black Forest area, stopping for a couple of nights at Freiburg which turned out to be the hottest (and possibly the only dry) day of this trip. The weather has been outstandingly awful for most of it so far... Anyway, in the guide books Freiburg boasted being blessed with the highest annual sunshine and warmest town in Germany and for once it was true. You are perhaps getting the picture that we are more than a bit fed up with the weather? Interesting city, cobbled streets, busy market, Gothic Minster-a monster minster in fact - fab ice-cream for me and great sausages for Doug...
Off now to travel through the BF a bit, most definitely stopping at Trilberg, the cuckoo clock centre of the world and where the original recipe for Black Forest Gateaux came from! guess that's lunch settled then.....
No caption needed I think....
View from my bed at one of the overnight vineyards.....
