After meeting Doug's friends John and Sue, we stopped in The Brenne, an unpopulated and unspoilt national park for a few days. Off they went looking for birds and heavy rain wasn't going to stop them...... In fact it rained the entire time we were with them, but good catching up was done. Had a small problem with le camping car which is now fixed, John and Sue headed south to their house down there and we are now enroute for Alsace and the sun shone for a change. Stopped overnight in Bourges, quick visit to a UNESCO World Heritage Cathedral (amazingly huge and very old), then on to a vineyard for the night just outside Nuits St George. Alarmed to be wine tasting (degustation) at 9.30 the following morning.......but it didn't stop us buying a few bottles!
Now in Alsace proper, writing this sipping Pinot Gris and reading a leaflet advising me that we are in a zone of seismic activity and what to do in event of an earthquake; it's in French but I get the gist of it, especially the don't touch electric wires fallen on the grounds and protect your head with your arms! Moving on up towards Strasbourg along the Alsace wine route, then into Germany.
