Blog 3 - On Jekyll Island

Came across this island on the way down to Cumberland and decided to stop for a look. That was nearly 3 days ago and it is beautiful here. Found a hotel/motel right on the beach and as its low season, have a suite that is almost as big as our house....Yesterday it rained and we thought about moving on but today the sun was shining again, the humidity was back, and we are still here.
Doug finally has some birds to look at and this morning he found a local lady who took him off on a 3 hour birding trip - he was a very happy man. I mooched about and did what Southern ladies do (I'm told and it goes like this) When your man goes off doing whatever it is he likes to do (golf, fishing, birding, women whatever....) the ladies go and play cards. That's Visa card, MasterCard etc - you get the picture? I met and chatted with so many ladies, everyone here is extremely friendly and happy to chat about any and everything, all in that lovely Southern drawl (y'all comes into it a lot).
On a totally different subject, the hire car has been great and tonight we managed to press every button in it, looking for a reading light so we could study the map and find our way home. (no instruction manual of course!)
Ended up with a voice telling us his name was "Earl" and what was the nature of our emergency and how could he help! It was on the tip of my tongue to say can you help me find the reading light in my hire car, but thought perhaps he might not appreciate that. We apologised profusely in our best British accents and he cleared the call, reset whatever it was in our car and wished us a pleasant evening. Needless to say we are now terrified to touch any button in the car....
Will probably stay one more night then move on.
Nice view

A Badass-as they say here....
