Travelled 1,120 miles so far and are almost as far north as we can go on this trip, although I suspect we will go further. It will get busy here arou d Midsummers Day when all hell breaks loose in Sweden as far as I can tell - drinking and partying until the middle of the night. More on that nearer the time I'm sure. Spent 3 nights at a tiny village called Horlick on the Hornslandet peninsula, walking and cycling, weather finally hot and sunny. D only seen about 50 species of birdies - he's a bit disappointed!! Further north he hopes to find Golden Eagles; I reckon he's got more chance in Western Mongolia.
Travelled through town of Sundsvall which is pretty rare along the coast as it is almost entirely built of stone instead of the usual beautiful wooden houses and fenced in plots of land found in most towns. needless to say, it is stone as it burnt down In 1888 (like several towns we have passed through).
Stopping overnight at Snibbens (great name) campsite and heading for the High Coast area. Days drift by without much excitement but we both love Sweden, it is scenic, empty and where we do meet people, very friendly. Pity everything seems to be closed as the "summer season" doesn't start until the end of June, but there are compensations. Food and fuel are expensive here, alcohol prohibitively so - not that that means it stops us...Eating a lot of smoked fisk from local fishermen which is great.
Yep - Elk Beer uuuuum
Buying fisk.....and icecream
