Blog 6 Finally. The Lofoten Islands

Last night we camped at Sto, a tiny campsite in a small fishing village on what was supposed to be a stark and windy point but turned out to be absolutely beautiful and unspoilt. Ate our first Norwegian meal in their tiny cafe which was delicious but was an eye-wateringly £51 for 2 bowls of fish stew and 2 cans of beer..... Needless to say, it may well be the last time we eat out in Norway!!!! Having said that, it was extraordinary to stand at midnight, on the rocks by the sea, photographing fishing boats leaving the harbour for a nights work. I still can't get used to it being daylight for 24 hours......playing havoc with my sleep pattern....

All 3 photos taken at midnight...

5 June - Today we finally crossed from Vesteralen Islands to the Lofoton and I write this parked up beside yet another small fjord campsite at a tiny place called Sildpollnes, surrounded by towering mountains. Tomorrow we move down the islands looking at all things cod (or so it seems according to the guide book....)

kittiwake (I'm told)
