Blog 1 -Off to Patagonia...........and more

Well here I am again, packing and preparing for our next outing!
Tomorrow - 15th Feb 2010 - we fly to Buenos Aires where we spend some time before flying on down to El Calafate which is a small settlement at the far southern end of Argentina on the edge of the Patagonian steppes. After a few days here we move on to the Upsala glaciers for a bit of trekking, then on to an ecocamp in the Torres Del Paine National Park (really looking forward to staying in an "ecodome"!) This is in Chilean Patagonia - over 150 species of birds, so guess who will be in birdie heaven?? 5 days here walking, admiring the stunning scenery etc etc before moving on and flying from Punta Arenas to Santiago, Chile's capital. 2 nights here and hoping to do some wine tasting (although I am sure we will be tasting all the way down and back!) then flying out of Santiago 3000 miles west to Easter Island (a personal highlight for me I cant wait...) 5 days here before flying back to Santiago and then home via Madrid. Phew! Feel tired just thinking about it but it is going to be great. We are on our own this trip, just having Journey Latin America booking hotels and flights for us, although I am sure we will meet some interesting people along the way - we usually do!
Not sure what the Internet facilities will be like, some places are a bit out of the way, but will endeavour to get something up (with photos if poss) whenever I can.
