Blog 3 - Cross country skiing and some reindeer......

Cross country skiing - not something I have ever tried - was amazing, I loved it! It was -23 and we trekked on what, in the summer, is Lake Inari. Managed to stay upright as the falling and trying to get up again was not an option. Doug did well too although I don't think he liked it as much as a good pair of walking boots...

Very hard work and can't complain of the temperature although it was in the -20s again and it almost got sunny. It gets light around 9.00amish and dark again around 3.30pm so the day is short but it doesn't seem to make much difference to anything.
We also visited a reindeer farm and met a traditional Sami family which was a bit touristy but very interesting and learnt more than I will ever need to know about reindeer. Interestingly Doug had reindeer for lunch before setting off to meet some!

Tonight, snowmobiles to search for the northern lights - they are letting me loose on one of these, can't wait..... You know that a photo will follow.....
