Blog 1- Only in America.......

Arrived yesterday in Atlanta for a month's visit, the first 2 weeks being a short road trip followed by a week or so with Alistair, Rachel and their baby boys then my sister & brother in law fly in from Oz and I get to go to Memphis, Tennessee. Yep, a busy month ahead.
Hired a car in Atlanta and I write this first blog on the road to Savannah. Am loving the weather here in Georgia, warm, sunny with no humidity - perfect! We spent today battling along the Interstates, stopping briefly to look at antebellum houses along the way; Gone with the Wind and all that. The Civil War decimated the South it seems and there are very few of these houses left.
Had our first taste (on this trip anyway) of huge supermarkets, massive cars and fairly massive people! Not pleasant but the people we have spoken to are very friendly and they have that lovely Southern drawl which I find very easy on the ear.....
Next stop, the Georgia Coast, Savannah and lots of interesting little islands to visit.
Oh that's a big 'un.......
