Blog 4 - Back in the wilds.....2 June

Just spent 2 days in the most gorgeous campsite near Lindesberg, by a lake of course, and the weather is amazingly hot. Not done much except cycle, swim in the lake, read, drink and BBQ. Were supposed to go out elk-spotting but as it does not seem to get dark here at all, we were not sure when dusk was which is prime elk-spotting time! The view from my bed is stunning (and I dont mean Doug...) cystal clear calm water with pinky-hued sky above it, and this was at 11pm. The birds start waking up around 2.30am – bless 'em!!!
Drove to the nearest village, called Nora, to stock up on fresh food, and to sample its famous homemade icreams. Usual quiant old town, icecream yummy, found a Systembolaget the state-owned alcohol store, the only place you can buy booze! So we duly bought 2 bottles of wine at about the same price as in the UK so we have been limiting outselves for no good reason!!!
Facts of the day: I also like the idea of having a beer with your meal to help “the fish swim down”. There is also a tradition here of eating a whipped cream and almond bun leading up to Lent on “fettisdagen” - fat Tuesday!!!
