Do you know the way to San Jose (Costa Rica that is)..

Friday 22 February 2008
Yipee off again - it's been a long, cold winter here in the UK so some warmth is going to be much appreciated (might be a bit of a system shock but what the hell...) only typically, as we leave today, it is bright and sunny and almost warm (for February!)

So here is where we are going, 2 weeks trekking around CR then a week at Drakes Bay on the South West coast at an eco lodge where I get to finally go diving in warm water (as opposed to the freezing temps/low viz here in Devon) Can't wait....

Along the way we check out San José, Tortuguero National Park (green and leatherback turtles here I'm told plus lots of birds for Doug. Also the home of the "Jesus" lizards it walks on water - can't wait to spot that one! ) Arenal Volcano next stop (thanks for use of photo, will add my own when I get a chance). Serious stuff eh?

Next up will be Monteverde Cloud Forest, where we get to go zip lining and sky walking (amongst other more serious stuff of bird spotting the 320 odd species here and 100 different species of mammals!!!) Then on to the Manuel Antonio National Park on the coast for some kayaking, hiking and monkey spotting - how good can a trip get eh? Yep, as they say in the brochures - Costa Rica is one of the most biologically diverse countries in the world - a true Garden of Eden.

Sorry, I am sure you all hate us now but do email me if you want, I will pick up along the way where I can and add to this sick-making, beautiful journey....

Wonder where friends Bob & Sheila are, last heard of heading into Namibia....
