Blog 5 - Animals, plants etc.

We have seen just about everything we hoped to see. Some days we saw up to 10 polar bears either on the ice or on land, foraging on the shoreline for food. Some skinny and some not. We have seen minke whales, pods of belugas with calves (so difficult to spot as they are white and hug the shoreline), walrus both on and off land, humpback whales, harp and bearded seals, reindeer
The amount of miniature plant life here is interesting. You go marching off across the tundra, watching all the time for bears, and not looking down much. When you do, you suddenly realise that there are hundreds of tiny plants which flowers for just a short 8 week period during the summer here. Needless to say have taken so many photos, ditto bleak beaches, icebergs, glaciers and scenery in general. Awesome as the Americans say (a lot!!)

The most amazing little plants thrive here...
