Blog 1 – Arrival in Seychelles paradise................

Flew to Mahe Island via Dubai onto a runway next to the sea which certainly didn't look long enough to accommodate our Emirates monster plane!!! What a gorgeous view from the window – soaring mountains, lush jungle, blue seas and lots of tiny islands dotted about in the Indian ocean.

Writing this from the verandah of our room, 9pm on Day 2, temperatures still up in the low 30s! Spent the day on Beau Vallon beach – me getting in some practice for my dives tomorrow and D just focusing his binoculars on birds (feathery one, although there are certainly plenty of the other sort to look at too!!) Wonderful to be back in the sea – so warm. The Seycheloise are a lot of fun, its a Bank Holiday here (nothing to do with Wills & Kate I'm told) and they certainly laugh a lot, love their (very loud) music and generally like to have a good time it seems. We didn't escape THE wedding; we sat by the pool, in a bar drinking cold beer and watched W&K do their stuff with some of the hotel staff. W&K were on every TV we passed during the day, girls all naturally talking about THAT dress and the men looking equally bored no matter what nationality they were.......!

Finally did some diving (plongee as they say here) and what dives! Headed out to the St Anne (how appropriate) Marine National Park on the dive boat (leaving Doug to trek off with a local birdie guide called Pearly) and down we went to 18m in fantastic clear water. Saw white tip reef sharks, moray eels, huge pink sea cucumbers, sunfish, parrot fish and the odd eagle ray – perfect.

How can we have eaten so much so soon I ask myself? Oh well, I am in foodie paradise as it is all fresh salads, fruit and fish. Very very expensive though. No Brits here, mainly seems to be Italians, French and very rich Russians.

Typical Food!

Off next to Bird Island.
