On the road to San Antonio-Blog 2

5 November

Today we are off on a road trip through Austin to San Antonio, the southern edge of Texas and into the the hills. Hoping to do some walking (not something they do much of here...). Started the day with a cream cheese bagel freshly made and OJ – oh the food in this country is so tempting, no wonder they are as little on the large side, it would be so easy to give in to every temptation you see. The food is exceptional, anything you want, whenever you want it and all done with a smile and a "have a good day now".....

Yesterday we drove into Fort Worth in the hope of seeing cowboys and going to the Cowgirl Museum! Saw the cowboys, in chinos and stetsons, but not the museum in the end. Nice easy city to walk around, wandered through Sundance Square and yes Butch Cassidy and the Kid came to this town. Ended up in the Stockyards to see cowboys plodding through the heat doing what cowboys do, roping and whip cracking. Bit touristy but good fun – lots of yee-hawing going on here.

Spent the evening at the ice hockey stadium watching the Dallas Stars and the Canadian Flames hacking their way through a 2 hour game. Excellent fun, lots of hollering and shouting, deafening music, hot dogs, beer, stunning, skimpily dressed cheerleaders and hunky ice hockey players – what more could you want!

Weather still up in the high 70s, driving through flat countryside, listening to the rodeo update and country music.............Passing Waco, another infamous place...........

Spending the next 2 days in and around San Antonio, then on to Fredericksburgh......
Al and Rachel looking like they are enjoying the game!!
