Finally, the Great Wall

Aaaah - the dreaded stomach bug hits! First one, so I cant complain (but most certainly did) Since last blog have packed in the Summer Palace, and evening at the Beijing Opera; an experience not to be missed with best seats in the house (including a table) jasmine tea (?), wine and snacks, pity my stomach isn't up to it but you know, of course, who made up for my deficiencies don't you? He hasn't stopped eating meat since we got here for reasons only Julie and Linda will understand......

And today it was The Great Wall - finally - a staggering (in more ways than one) achievement. We went very early in the day before the temperatures got up and to a part of the wall not overly popular with tourists at a place called Mutianyu. Walked as high as we could go and by the time we got to the end of the section being restored, the temps were up in the high 30s - too hot for this chicken! One of the nicer things about this part was that there were hardly any people - in Beijing there are 17 million people and I am starting to feel that I have met (or bumped into) quite a lot of them. So, loved THE WALL!!!!

D finally getting his famous Peking Duck tonight (I'm still on boiled rice...) and tomorrow we fly to Xian for the last leg of our trip - The Terracotta Army.

Love to all
Annie & Doug xx
