Blog 1: Nepal here we come...............

28 October – 2 November
Arrived in Kathmandu after arduous flight and promptly found we had no luggage. Guess who was not a happy bunny??? Luggage duly located and forwarded on from Delhi where it been left behind so all is now well. Have spent the last few days being guided through all the interesting bits of Kathmandu, including the world heritage site of the great Stupa of Boudhanath – amazing!

(sorry photo not brilliant it was a cloudy day)

Somehow managed to be persuaded to buy all sorts of goodies – suitcase getting fuller by the day! Another highlight was seeing a living goddess (aged 8!!), various temples and a couple of medieval towns in the Kathmandu Valley. Been busy.

Last night we drove out and stayed at a beautiful place in the hills to get up at dawn (that's 5.30AM.....) to see the sunrise over the Himalayas and as luck would have it, it was cloudy. Disappointed we went and had porridge (as all true Brits do) and when we had finished we could just make out the snow covered peaks in the distance.

Now sending this back in Kathmandu waiting for a flight on Druk Air into Paro in Bhutan. Not sure when next blog opportunity will come my way. Di and John are great travelling companions and we are all having a lot of laughs....

More coming soon....
