Hello from Windhoek!

We are now in Windhoek after having spent the last 2 days in Etosha National Game Park. It was an amazing experience seeing all those animals up live and personal. We spent a day and a half travelling through the park in an open truck seeing all the animals at their waterholes, the usual stuff, you know, lions, elephants, giraffe, warthogs, wildebeest (my favourites cos they are the bottom of the food chain!!!) and have now arrived in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. Nice city, only here this afternoon and tomorrow morning, then we drive to Maun and take flight into the Okavango Delta for a couple of days camping with wild animals (that is, other than Doug!!!!) and canoeing up the Delta. Can't wait, hope there are no mozzies, so far so good!!!!!!!

The weather here is hot hot hot (sorry Jane) around 38 by midday, when everyone else seems to go to sleep except us who are on the move. We are starting to feel our age now, the 6.00am starts and (last night) the 7.00pm finish with a long drive to our Lodge after that, is starting to take its toll. Small skirmish broke out on the bus this morning over seats (whatever, I had a hangover and was happy to sit up front with Burt Lancaster (yes,) our driver..... ) This really is the most diverse and beautiful country.

Have just had lunch in a shopping mall (complete change of scenery from the last few days....) and of course South Africa is playing Tonga at Rugby so everyone is glued to the TV screens. Might have to do a bit of shopping??? Who needs an excuse!

We are both well and looking forward to the trip ahead, we have another 19 days to go, not sure I can keep up the pace being set by those around me, but you know I will do my best! Won't be able to get to an internet now for the next 5 days (after the Delta). Until then ...
